The Bell of It

"When I hear of Schrödinger’s cat, I reach for my gun," – Stephen Hawkins

Pavlov’s dogs and Shrödinger’s cat
they weren’t not the best of friends
in other words
i wouldn’t call them tight exactly…

As far as I could tell
it was all about the bell.

What a beautiful bell it must be
to ring so actually
every time the clock strikes eight
and I start to salivate
I wonder
is it bronze or is it gold?
is it young or is it old?
where does it live?
upon what shelf?
can it be heard
by the sacred elf?

And what of the cat that so silently sits
dead or not dead to prove a point with a wave
of its hypothetical paw…

Perhaps it’s true i don’t know
what i’m talking about at all

and if you don’t understand
Kubla can…

Just
for the bell of it
what a beautiful bell
it must be.
